George Will

Man, I read this article and just thought, "What an utter douche." But then, I'm the type of guy that wears jeans a lot. Link.

Hat tip, Ezra.

Who walked on Oldy Olderson's lawn? Man, that guy has a stick the size of Rhode Island shoved up his ass.

Let me guess, George Will also does not have a need for cell phones, color TV and the intertubes?

George Will is a joke as well as a hack.

Point of order - Grace Kelly didn't wear pants, so is George Will saying that women should wear skirts only?

I think that fits with his general thesis, yes.

As annoying as the article is, I do look forward to the random outbreaks of dancing, particularly in court.

If you change "jeans" to "jean shorts" I would agree.

What! Didn't you ever wear the cutoff jean shorts back in the day. It was so cool to cut your jeans in the summer to make shorts. And you never could cut them quite evenly, so the sides would be different lengths...those were the days.

What's wrong with denim shorts?

I have no problem with denim short back in the day. However, I don't like them now. 1.) they are soooo 80-90s. 2.) they aren't flattering on anyone, especially men 3.) if you want to wear short pants & keep cool, where khaki which breathes better & looks better.

I wear both denim shorts and khaki shorts, but I greatly prefer the denim variety. I'm not sure why.

I have to go with Sarah on this one, denim shorts are lame. I cannot quantify why, I just do not like them.

I have to go with Sarah and Jay that khaki looks better, but with Drew in that I like wearing denim better. Personally, I feel that denim is more comfortable than khaki. Second, khaki shorts are frequently *really* short, ending a bit too high above the knee for my taste.

The bottom line for me, really, is that I don't particularly think shorts flatter anyone that isn't in pretty good shape, and so, as I am not in particularly good shape, I might as well go for what's comfortable.

I'm just violently opposed to the idea that I should make wardrobe decisions based on what other people think is attractive. I'm happy to make wardrobe decisions based on professional and social dress codes (I don't mind wearing suits to weddings, funerals, job interviews, etc.), but I have no desire to make myself look attractive to other people. Besides, I think shorts are a special category unto themselves. If I'm wearing shorts at all, it's because it's fucking hot out, and all bets are off.

Word recognition: deicare. God's health insurance plan.

drew - i think you should wear a tux all the time rathr than denim shorts (in the spirit of George Will's desire for a more formally dressed America).

I still don't like denim shorts. I think khaki are more comfy too.
