One Of Us! One Of Us!

EA has assimilated Bioware and Pandemic, two of the best video game studios out there. Link.

P.S. The comments following that post are of varying interest, but are worthwhile if only because they produced this:

You know the sick part? I knew within a few seconds what episode that shot is from. Kudos to anyone who can name the episode *and* tell me what Picard is quoting.

No guesses? The episode is "Menage a Troi" and I'm fairly certain Picard is saying "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day" from Shakespeare's eighteenth sonnet.

I can't remember the last time I watched any episode of Star Trek. I did watch 3/4 of the NG film where the Borg go back in time or something this summer, and I suppose I have probably watched a couple episodes when absolutely bored sometime in the last few years. As I recall, it was the endless, meaningless pseudo-scientific gobbledygook they used to solve every single damn problem that really drove me away.

So, Noumena, is it fair to say you're a huge fan, then?

Voyager was where the show really got weighed down by the techno-babble (I swear to God, one time their sensors couldn't work due to 'interferometric particles'). It still had plenty of good episodes, but there were a few with pretty weak resolutions. But TNG had plenty of top notch sci fi drama going. Definitely worth revisiting, particularly if you find a "best of" list.

interferometric particles? I bet they're also responsible for my students' abortion papers.

Yes, it's hard to get anything done when you've got to compensate for that "interference" effect, which is too technical for me to explain here.
