Obama's Acceptance Speech

I have no complaints. Pitch freakin' perfect. Yes we can.

Obama did everything the talking heads have been telling him to for the past week: went on the offensive against McCain -- and without smears and mudslinging -- maintained his campaign themes of change and hope, connected with working class whites in the Rust Belt, gave specifics about his policy platform. Not to mention a moving homage to Martin Luther King (if you're familiar with King's speeches and sermons, you'll notice that Obama actually adopted King's cadence during the final section).

The only problem is that this made for a very disconnected speech. There was no one theme or point that brought the whole thing together and explained why it was organized the way it was. This might not have been possible, though; Obama had a lot to do in just 45 minutes.

All together, I give the speech 4 out of 5 stars.
