I'll start off with Glottis from "Grim Fandango". He was a ten foot tall demon that near sexual relationship with machinery generally and cars specifically. He was hilarious. Parting ways with him towards the end of the game was also one of a few touching moments in a fantastic game.
Would Max of Sam and Max count as a non-lead character? You don't actually control him.
Ahh there are so many fantastic lines in that game. "I think I've got something in my eye." "Try digging it out with a fork."
I really like Arthur from Journeyman: Legacy of Time. Especially the bit at the very end.
