In my ongoing efforts to spur action on our comments sections, I thought I'd start a trend of posting at least a couple posts with no links to news and no in depth opinion in the body of the post. Instead I'll just suggest a topic, some fun and some serious, and hope that you all give you thoughts. So here it goes....
What's your favorite song for a contemplative/low key sort of mood?
Post away guys and gals...

In the future I'll try to wait for other posters to start things off, but I had this typed up already when I decided not to include opions in the body of the post.
I was watching the season 2 finale of The West Wing this evening and Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits plays towards the end. I'd forgotten about this song, but it's great. Slow, peaceful, and introspective; not sad or depressing, but still somewhat mournful. Anyway, I know this isn't the ideal topic for a first in the "What Do You Think" series, but I wanted to talk about "Brothers In Arms" so there. As an interesting side note, at one point two out of three UK residents owned a copy of the album which "Brothers In Arms" was on.
It's always hard for me to pick one song to fit any given mood, and I always lean towards the first song that comes to mind.
Today, that song is "One Sided Trees" by John Smith. Basically, it's a pretty barren song, driven primarily by what sounds like a hand-plucked bass and a simple drum loop along with John reminiscing about certain moments in his past. It's definitely one of those songs that runs almost purely on vibe alone, as the bricks that make up the song are stronger than the sum of its parts. If I had to pick only one cornerstone, it would have to be the unknown soul singer of the chorus. The integration of that sample with the rest of that song is a thing of beauty, as far as I'm concerned.
Oh, and half of Endtroducing... by DJ Shadow.
